On Monday I took a bit of time out to re-invest in my business and better myself ahead of a busy couple of months of Winter Weddings. As one of the country's leading Wedding Photographers, who better to learn from than Manchester based Brett Harkness.

I booked myself onto his one day Wedding Flash course and I arrived at his studio to be met with a warm welcome, both from Brett and wife Kristie and the other photographers attending the course. The morning was studio based theory and then after a hearty lunch we went out on location around Media City opposite the new BBC Studios in Manchester.

I thoroughly enjoyed the day, would highly recommend it to anyone looking to pick up new lighting skills. Im delighted to share a few of my images from the day and look forward to putting my new skills into action. As this style of photography is a bit of a diversion from my very natural style, I'd be interested to know what you think!

Who'd have thunk it hey? 5th November, Bonfire Night and this year it was a glorious day for Emma & Paul's Wedding.

Every bonfire night I can remember, I've spent the evening in my wellies and bobble hat trudging through a field of squelchy mud with the expectation of seeing a Disney style spectacle, and alas being disappointing when the local village display never quite measures up.

This year on Bonfire night, Emma & Paul's party was in full swing at Willington Hall after a beautiful Church service and a wonderful afternoon on the lawn enjoying the crisp winter sunshine.

As you know, I dont have time to blog every Wedding I cover, however Im sharing some pictures from this one as I simply couldnt believe the weather.

As you'll know from my post last week, Ive recently launched my new styled baby photography photo shoots. I come out to your home and bring all of the little hats, headbands, blankets and wraps with me so that you can choose which you'd like to use for your shoot. Of course, I will always keep my natural style when photographing babies so that the shoot is nice and relaxed.

I'm not going to ask you to put baby in a fruit bowl or anything odd like that, however you will have the choice of the most adorable hats, headbands, coloured wraps and blankets made from the finest soft organic yarn. Dont worry there are gorgeous little hats for boys too!

Celebrate the dress Photoshoot-Wedding Photographer Chester, Sal Norris Photography

Over the last couple of years there has been a new craze in Wedding Photography, a post wedding 'Trash the dress' photoshoot where the bride pops on that beautiful dress she paid a fortune for and jumps in a river, rolls in the mud, runs through a field, really any manner of things that you would never have dreamt of doing in your beautiful dress on the day of your wedding.

Now then, Im not knocking those shoots, go for your life and have fun in your dress and achieve the images you have in your mind. That really is my point in writing this post...The ability to achieve the images you have in your mind. For some of you, that may be you and your hubby in a horse and cart, for others a kiss on the lawn of a country manor. For Kirsty, it was images of her in her princess like wedding dress at a castle (or something close to it)......plus in pink shoes, blowing bubbles and a number of other things too!

Kirsty and Adam married in April and six months to the day later she put her beautiful Wedding dress back on for a 'Celebrate the dress photoshoot' where she could have fun with all the props, poses and backdrops that she wanted, without the time constraints of her wedding day.

Seeing the smile on Kirsty's face the moment she had her dress back on, made me remember that special feeling you have in your dress from the very first moment you try it on in the shop. What a great idea to put it on again and have some fun in it, achieving images you've always dreamt of.

Ive been waiting a little while to launch an exciting new concept in Baby photography.

I will always keep my natural style when photographing babies and of course I still go out to clients houses so that baby has the best experience possible and the shoot is nice and relaxed...However, Im excited to launch my styled baby photography where the most adorable little props are used.

Check out the most adorable photoshoot of the beautiful little Leila.

Im so busy right now and have been a little stressed after finding that another photographer is copying all of the wording from my website and Blog posts. I thought hey, imitation is the biggest compliment and she obviously thinks Im very good, so 'Thank you'

So today when I set out to Leila's photoshoot, I had an extra spring in my step to be the best photographer I can be.

See what you think of the pictures of Leila below. We spent an hour on location in Tarporley, Cheshire. Leila is a natural in front of the camera and fueled by Skittles, I think she did a great job.

Just had to share a few images from my second photoshoot with Baby George. I met George 6 months ago when he was brand new. I photographed him as a newborn and caught up with him again last week as he's now 6 months old.......and what a cutie pie! A bundle of smiles and such a little proper little boy.

Late summer brought golden fields of barley, a beautiful backdrop for a shoot with four grandchildren. Off we went with Vintage suitcases, hats, wellies and smiles to capture some gorgeous timeless images.

The benefit of a location photoshoot is that the pictures seem more natural and timeless so in turn can be viewed as a better investment than staged studio shots.

Hi folks,
I'd like to share just a few images from another E-shoot with you....

I had a lovely time meeting Caroline & Justin at Speke Hall, a national trust property near to Liverpool.

Caroline & Justin are getting married at the end of October so the E-shoot was a nice way for us all to get to know one another and for them to get used to feeling comfortable in front of the lens. We took a few shots then chatted through the details of their day over a cuppa in the coffee shop. (I resisted the cake-must have been ill!)

As with all of my Wedding clients, Caroline & Justin will chose their favourite image from their E-shoot which I will have framed as a complimentary gift.

Just a few moments to share some pictures from another of my recent pre wedding 'E-photoshoots'. It was fabulous to spend some time with the lovely Laura & Nick who are getting married just before New Year at The Ashes in Endon, Staffordshire.

We met at the venue to talk through timings of their wedding day and then took some pictures in the grounds. I always carry out the E shoot so that my clients are comfortable in front of the camera on their BIG day, in this case, Laura & Nick were naturals and a real pleasure to spend time with. We chose to photograph in the grounds of their wedding venue as we may not get to use them fully with a December wedding, so thought we would make use of them whilst the sun was out!

The couple will choose their favourite image which I will provide framed and wide mounted for guests to add their best wishes on the couples wedding day.

I recently photographed a Wedding at a venue I'd not visited before-Albrighton Hall on the edge of Shrewsbury.

Its a Mercure Hotel & Spa, a lovely venue set on a lake and with a really friendly team happy to help out. I got talking to their Sales Manager and we agreed that I would take some models and do a little Bridal Shoot to refresh their images of the venue.

I sent out a request for volunteers and had several replies (thank you to all who offered) I was really pleased that Kirsty & Adam (Wedding Clients from April) were happy to help me out, I know Kirsty was delighted at the thought of getting back into her beautiful Wedding Dress!

So my brief was to create 5 collection sets of images that showcase the key areas of the venue for Wedding Clients. Take a look at the finished showcards below.....

Albrighton is a lovely venue and has a good mix of nice indoor spaces and outdoor areas to photograph that account for all seasons and the unpredictable weather!

I have to say a huge thank you to GROOMS menswear in Chester for the hire of Adam's beautiful suit. They provided a gorgeous Grey Suit with two different waistcoats from their new collection. The waistcoat Adam wore was silver, however the other was fuchsia pink and was fantastic, although we didnt have flowers to match it. (it would have looked amazing at the Wedding of Mo & Mark on my previous blog post, as it matched their bridesmaids and bright pink hydrangea centre pieces) Do consider hiring from Grooms, should you be planning a Wedding in the North West. An early August day at Rowton Hall Hotel in Chester was the very special Wedding Day of Mo & Mark.

Now I didnt get a chance to blog their pre-wedding shoot, however we met for a few shots down by the river in Chester. This meant we had a chance to talk through all the plans ahead of their big day and we took some casual pre-wedding shots so that the couple could get used to being professionally photographed-all part of my service. The couple chose this shot as their complimentary Signature Board for guests to sign around on the Wedding Day as an alternative to a guest book.

And then....The Big Day, and what a lovely day it was. Rowton Hall have had their main ceremony room re-furbed and it looks just smashing. The colour scheme chosen by Mo & Mark was a strong fuchsia pink and it looked simply stunning.

Andy & Charlotte have chosen Sal Norris Photography to capture their Wedding in October in Shrewsbury so as with all of my clients, I made some time to meet with them, discuss the plans for their day and take a walk around the venue.

We then set off to the nearby Attingham Park to see what was there, the beautiful grounds of the park were a fabulous backdrop for some relaxed shots of the couple to get them used to feeling comfortable in front of the camera ahead of their wedding day.

Last weekend I had the pleasure of meeting Ceri & Paul. They have booked me to capture their Wedding in September in Powys, Wales. The couple asked me to capture their day after seeing my pictures from a wedding they attended last year.

I was delighted to drive down to meet Ceri & Paul, to have a look at the beautiful church in which they will be married and hear about all the plans for their big day.

Of course, I captured some images for them when we met up and they will choose their favourite for their Signature Board, that guests will sign around with their good wishes on the couples wedding day.

Ok, so I know Im way behind with posting my shoots from the last few weeks. Im so sorry, I WILL get around to sharing some work-I promise.

A really quick post today though, as Im currently editing a fabulous Wedding that just keeps filling me with such warmth at the happiness that shines through in the eyes of the Bride. Thats not to say that it doesnt with the groom, or any groom, its just that I think there is something very very special about a bride on her wedding day, like a fairytale or dream come true moment. I endeavor to capture that special look, that glow of happiness and beauty. It got me looking back at a couple of recent weddings and I thought I'd share some of those looks of happiness.

I dont know about you, but when I look at these pictures, they just make me smile because all of these lucky ladies have found their prince charmings!.....I know I know im a crazy romantic :-)

I thought I would share a few images from a happy occasion last week.

Baby Lizzy celebrated her 1st Birthday and as a member of the Sal Norris Photography Baby Club, I captured this special day for Lizzy and parents Gemma & Gareth to remember.

The Baby Club includes 3 on location photoshoots over 12 months, so Ive had the pleasure of photographing Lizzy as a newborn baby, at 6 months and on her 1st Birthday. As the shoot was on location at the family's home, I was able to photograph Lizzy ready for her party to start and then stay on to capture memories of this special day.

Im so busy right now as April has been my busiest month for Weddings for the fourth year in a row which means LOTS of editing and little chance to Blog-sorry! I thought I must make time to share some images from a pre-wedding shoot a couple of weeks ago.

Ive quickly put together a sample of the images from Catherine & Craigs Pre-wedding shoot to share with you.

A pre-wedding shoot is part of all of my wedding packages as it really helps the Bride & Groom to gain confidence in front of the camera. The couple choose their favourite image to be wide mounted for guests to sign around (with their best wishes) on the wedding day. This makes a great alternative to a guest book and is a complimentary part of my service.

Just an idea for all of my Bride to be followers, I thought I'd share a really original Hen party idea that one of my lovely Bride's to be, Catherine shared with me.

If lots of your friends have recently married then the Hen party ideas can start to get a little tired. When I heard about the 'Hindu Hen-do' it immediately caught my imagination.

Lovely costumes, glam makeup, loads of fun and colour. The costumes can be really versatile so everyone feels comfortable. Endless ideas of what the day could include

A belly dancing session -Bollywood Style (lots of online places to find these in all cities)
Henna temporary Tatoos
Indian Decorations- great for a garden party with lanterns etc
Indian food
and then even follow on with a night on the tiles all dressed up.

"Royal Wedding...What Royal Wedding?" These were the words uttered by many of the guests on Friday at the very special Wedding Day of Philippa & Chris.

The couple have been together for nearly 10 years and the date for there marriage was set as 29th April 2011 long before any royal announcements, so indeed it was THEIR special day.

I traveled down to Essex to capture Philippa & Chris's day for them as they had heard about me by recommendation. Im happy to travel out of the area and Im delighted that my reputation has reached so far away! I hope you enjoy a preview of just a small selection of the images that I captured of their lovely Wedding Day.

Philippa got ready at her parents home, in her childhood bedroom, accompanied by her bridesmaids (sister Julie and close friends Claire & Kirsteen).

Philippa has the most amazing big brown eyes and there was definitely an extra special sparkle in them on Friday :-)

The bridal bouquet and bridesmaids posies were a collection of gorgeous pastel roses in ivory, pink, peach and yellow.

It was such a delight to see how proud Philippa's father Andrew was as he caught sight of his daughter ready to be married....

Groom Chris was accompanied by his Best Man, his brother Stuart to Loughton Methodist Church for the ceremony.

The ceremony was truly lovely, engaging, thoughtful and funny- a real joy to be a part of.

Just a little bit of confetti....there's a newlywed couple in there somewhere!

On the journey to the reception venue we stopped to take advantage of capturing some images in this stunning field

Coltsfoot Retreat is a beautiful venue in Hertfordshire- I was so impressed with the surroundings and quality of service and experience at this wonderful location.

The couple and their guests enjoyed a Wedding Breakfast accompanied by the tinkling of the ivory keys by a really talented pianist

And then partied the night away to a live band...

The Beautiful Easter Wedding of Kirsty & Adam, Sal Norris Wedding Photography Chester, Plas Hafod Hotel, Mold

This year Good Friday was very special for a lovely couple Adam & Kirsty who chose the Bank Holiday to celebrate their Wedding at The Plas Hafod Hotel near Mold.

I think pictures speak louder than words so I am sharing some of my favourite images of over 800 special moments and memories that I captured throughout their day....

The bride wore a beautiful princes gown, whilst bridesmaids Maria & Laura wore Grecian style floor length dresses. The absolutely gorgeous Brittany & Madison looked adorable as flower fairies...Aaaah.

The guys were in grey morning suits with soft pastel cravats that tied in with the Easter candy theme.

At the Plas Hafod Hotel, the civil ceremony took place in the beautiful conservatory with close family and friends looking on...

The Bride & Grooms little boy Toby looked so cute in his Page Boy Outfit!

The most perfect flower fairies Ive ever seen, with dresses made by the very talented brides mum Yvonne.

I captured this shot as Kirsty was walking out to welcome her evening guests and I just love it!...

The Easter theme included huge glass centre pieces filled with chocolate eggs and the favours were individually personalised Thorntons chocolate eggs....One word-Amazing!

Guests partied the night away and to end the perfect day-even Elvis made an appearance!!

Jack frost may have been out and about this last week making it a bit chilly, however that didnt stop me from meeting up with the lovely Kirsty & Adam for their pre-wedding shoot.

Kirsty & Adam have chosen Sal Norris Photography to capture their Big Day in April at The Plas Hafod hotel.

We met up in Chester, near to the river, for a relaxed and casual photo shoot. This is a great opportunity for my clients to become more comfortable in front of the camera and its also really nice to chat through plans for their wedding day.

How's everyone's January going? Ive been busy with pre wedding shoots and meeting Brides & Grooms looking to book for 2012!

Saying that, I had time for a little fun this weekend with the gorgeous Max & Halle. This mischievous pair belong to my great friend Becky. Becky is moving house and having a brand new kitchen fitted so thought it would be an ideal opportunity to have some fun pictures of the children taken in a kitchen scene, with the aim of choosing a big canvas to grace the walls of the new kitchen.

How cold has it been hey? I saw someone describe December as Decembrrrr and I think thats totally accurate!

With that said, if you wrap up warm in hats and scarfs, wellies and coats, winter can be a fabulous time for a photoshoot.

I thought I'd share some images from one of my winter shoots last weekend with the lovely Roberts Family, on location at their home.

After having some fun in the snow, we all warmed up with a cup of tea and finished off the shoot with some extra pictures inside the family home.

Its the kind of place you want to keep secret but also feel compelled to share with your friends-Where am I talking about? The delight that is BOTTEGA, a boutique that recently relocated from Holt to a brand new larger store in Tarporley, Cheshire.

I cant find the words to describe it, you really just have to go and see it for yourself-but do, really its so worth going, its a wonderous place!

Yesterday I photographed Bottega as part of a very special event, a trunk show by designer Olivia Rubin, showcasing some of her Spring/Summer 2011 collection.

Yesterday I had the enormous pleasure of photographing a gorgeous Winter Wedding in Cheshire.

Holly & Stephen were married at St Paul's Church in Hooton, followed by a Wedding Breakfast & reception at Thornton Hall, Cheshire.

Holly wore a vintage lace style dress with a beautiful 1930'3 style crystal headpiece and kept the winters chill away with a chic fur bolero.

The bride was only about 15 mins late!!.....

Sometimes as a woman we just want to do something to make us feel lovely and fabulous. I love a spa treatment or a catch up with the girlies, buying new shoes or a big slice of carrot cake...I could go on! One of the best ways to make you feel fabulous is to see yourself looking fabulous, it does you the world of good.

With this in mind, I had one of my closest friends to stay last week and treated her to my location photoshoot experience. We spent a couple of hours in and around Tarporley, mixing and changing accessories and enjoying a natter whilst capturing some images of her looking super.

The first set of images echo my love of Autumn shoots-what a gorgeous time of year to be on location....

With the second set of images I took a more editorial approach-I especially love these ones!

And finally I shot a timeless Black & White set....

On Saturday I had the pleasure of photographing Nina & Mark (Jukesy's) Wedding.

Now, I dont get the chance to blog all of my shoots, however felt that this one was a MUST to share for so many reasons...fabulous weather, stunning location and a Bride & Groom that were happy for me to exercise my creative flair in capturing their special day.

It was a gorgeous day for a late September Wedding, the sun beamed down over the small village of Minchinhampton, near Stroud in Gloucestershire. As a Wedding Photographer Im happy to travel Nationwide or Internationally as required.

Yesterday I had the pleasure of joining the Ennion family at the beach for a fun and relaxed photoshoot.

It was bright and VERY breezy but the little ones Halle & Max had a wonderful time splashing around and playing in the sand

Photographing on location allows me to capture images and memories that are so much more timeless than studio shots-plus the family get to have a fabulous day out spending quality time together.

The props department failed-a fishing rod was requested....but we ended up with a watering can!...so little Max got busy watering the water :o)

A cuddle and a review of some pebbles found on the shore...

Halle enjoyed collecting shells...

And finally, time to snuggle up out of the breeze

A couple of months ago I decided to launch a Sweet 16 Photoshoot experience for any girls or guys aged 15 or 16 that want a fun and funky on location photoshoot to celebrate turning 16.

I ran a model competition to find a 'Face of Sweet 16' and received lots of great entries. I chose the beautiful Shelby Lee, 16, from Chester as the winner and here are some pictures from the day we spent on location in Chester.

Its a Wedding frenzy right now, but Ive found a few seconds to give you a little update on a Wedding from a couple of weeks ago....

Heather & Simon held their Wedding Ceremony and Reception at the Hallmark Hotel near to Manchester Airport.

I think the Hallmark has had a refurb pretty recently as the interior is really swanky, with some lovely pieces of furniture and great colours adorning the walls. I made good use of these as during the morning and immediately after the ceremony we enjoyed typical British weather-it tipped down!

All the girls getting ready, final finishing touches and an approving glance from mum!

Making use of some of the fun and funky colours found around the venue. Is is just me or do you agree that Heather has a slight Martine McCutcheon look??

Heather's favourite colour is red, which they used in the theme of the day, so I hope they will really love this image of them sharing a moment after the ceremony ...

I like to try to create playful images, who wants to look through pages and pages of stuffy wedding pictures?? This Chaise Lounge made the perfect spot for a fresh & modern shot.

And finally....the sun shines on the righteous! ...well on the new Mr & Mrs Beedie anyway!

Hargate Hall, Buxton, Aileen & David's Wonderful Wedding, Sal Norris Photography, Chester Wedding Photographer

On Saturday, Hargate Hall near Buxton in the Peak District was the location for the original and inspiring wedding of Aileen & David (who you may recall from my pre wedding shoot blog post a few months back)

Aileen & David are a creative, fun and sincere couple and carried these themes through every minute and every part of a simply beautiful day.

A colour scheme of burnt orange and yellow flowed through the Hall in trailing Organza and stunning roses. A confident and vibrant choice that made for a breathtaking bouquet.

Aileen carried an elegance and beauty that I had noticed and then heard so many of the guests comment on, looking almost etherial, so graceful and feminine, just stunning!

Of course, a lady like this required a dapper Groom and David more than fitted the bill in a Tailored Charcoal suit with a Rose & Cala Lilly buttonhole.

Chocolate Orange and Lemon Cupcakes decorated with butterflies and glitter were a hit with all the guests...I had my eye on the top one though!!!

I know that Aileen & David have a very happy life ahead of them, Congratulations and thank you for choosing me to be a part of your day x

On Friday I had the pleasure of photographing the Wedding Day of Tara & Dan from Tattenhall. The couple had chosen Rowton Hall for a Civil Ceremony & Reception so the day flowed beautifully straight into the evening reception.

The bedrooms at Rowton Hall are beautiful since their refurbishment and made a lovely backdrop for the bridal preparation shots. The bride held a stunning bouquet of fabulous cream roses.

It was tails for the men who looked really smart and the groom accessorized with some great cufflinks that I couldnt resist a shot of!

Tara & Dan are a wonderful couple and their happiness in becoming Husband & Wife was clear for all the see.

Sunshine & New Ideas!

I dont know about you, but this delicious sunny weather has given me a wonderful boost. I feel energized and fresh and so have been playing around with new ideas.

Ive recently entered a photographic competition that judges, amongst other things, texture added to portraiture of children.

So.... I thought I would share with you a few of those images.

Photographing children is such a pleasure. Although its hard work, I often find myself smiling all the way through the shoot and its a wonderful pleasure to provide parents with timeless images to grace their homes.

On Saturday it was a special day for a lovely couple, Alan & Mags, who celebrated their Wedding in Tarporley, Cheshire and chose Sal Norris Photography to capture their day.

Rain in March doesnt come as a shock and it certainly didn't dampen our spirits. Mags has a fabulous smile and it lit up the dullest of days.

Mags originates from Zimbabwe and the colours, dancing and joyous celebration that her family and friends brought to the day were a fantastic experience for me.

The 2010 Wedding Season begins...

The 2010 Wedding Season is now well under way for me with the first of this years Pre-Wedding Shoots.

Last week I had the pleasure of taking Aileen & David out on location in Manchester for a casual shoot ahead of their upcoming Wedding in May.

A Pre-Wedding shoot is included as a complimentary part of all of my Wedding Packages. Its a great way for the Bride & Groom to get used to being photographed professionally ahead of their Big Day and also allows us to get to know each other which is just fab.

We had a fantastic day. It was fun and relaxed and we even topped things off with lunch at a quaint little Italian restaurant that we found right around the corner!

I think its great to get out to unusual and funky locations and Castlefield provided the perfect place.

The Bride & Groom choose their favourite image from the Pre-Wedding shoot, which I wide mount and frame for guests to sign around on the Wedding Day. It makes a lovely alternative to a guest book!
